God money I’ll do anything for you.
God money just tell me what you want me to.
God money nail me up against the wall.
God money don’t want everything he wants it all.

No you can’t take it
No you can’t take it
No you can’t take that away from me

Head like a hole.
Black as your soul.
I’d rather die than give you control.
Head like a hole.

I’d rather die than give you control.

Bow down before the one you serve.
You’re going to get what you deserve.
Bow down before the one you serve.
You’re going to get what you deserve.

God money’s not looking for the cure.
God money’s not concerned with the sick among the pure.
God money let’s go dancing on the backs of the bruised.
God money’s not one to choose
No you can’t take it
No you can’t take it

Sad but true, not only are our leaders fools but our people are caricatures of themselves. The "Ugly American" comes to mind: loud, large, demanding, dull witted, opinionated and hypocritical.

America used to stand for quiet, proud, hardworking strong but fair now ????????

I love my country but we're all buying into the corporation propaganda. It's alright to be rich and have the nice car and house but materialism becomes our God. "Must get latest....or newest....why conserve I won't be here when the end comes..."

Live smaller, nicer and control your life. I'm trying as fast as I can and I reccommend it, I hope to go from a large home to an older smaller one with less needs and more detail. Give away the unneeded things, help others AND VOTE con or lib but don't let others control your life and complain.

Did anyone else read the WSJ article about congestion in Chicago (Friday) and notice the part about the woman driving a 2003 Ford Expedition 43 miles each way alone....who cherished her vehicle and would gladly pay as much as it costs to have "2 hours of nirvana each day".

What a stupid bitch. I cannot believe the crass of some people.

I dislike suburbia and everything it stands for but I'm not for taking away choices if people want to drive Suburbans. They should do what makes sense for their situation though; if you only need the capacity once or twice a year rent a damn truck. I seriously dislike sheeple who buy a monster SUV because they think it's cool and are trying to impress their neigbors.

that cartoon picture of the waffle house and mcdonalds n what not reminds me of when I drove from minnesota to Key west last christmas, every damn town from here to there looked all alike. Traveling at night all you ever saw was a waffle house sign, a mcdonalds, Kentucky chicken. We went on vacation to see something new, but all we found was the same ole crap we have in our town.

moman,

I just read that WSJ article. That lady actually choked up when she talked about her vehicle, HA HA! Not only is she a stupid bitch, but she's mentally deranged too. And that other lady who talks about how scrunched up she is on the train due to the construction on the Dan Ryan expressway...well, judging by her picture, I can see why she feels so scrunched. NutriSystem, anyone?

My, aren't we all so pleased with ourselves and disgusted by Boobus Americanus.

And our great mentor King BUsh sits in our white house throne, telling us we as a nation on national television, in 2006 and I quote:

"WE ARE TO DEPENDENT ON FOREIGN OIL AND NEED TO SEEK ALTERNITIVES"

Umm! bush should be working for NASA cause he is a true rocket scientist.

Where the christ is all our money going then? this administration as well as others in the past like it reek of coruption beyond what we could ever comprehend.

Hey hypocrites - take a look in the mirror before you cast those stones. I'll bet 95% of you couldn't last a year on your own without Wal-Mart and your SUVs. You have no savings, few survival/farming skills, and yet you act like you are somehow different that the Exxon CEO or VP Cheney.

Yeah, you're right, Keith -- but you're still logging on to the internet every 10 minutes to check the price of Cheveron stock, aren't you? So let's not lay the hypocracy rap on quite so thick...

Hey anyone seen the video called Money, Banking and the Federal Reserve? Or anyone familiar with a book called None Dare Call It Conspiracy? written in the 70's and by the way now out of print:) Both clearly show that we are at the mercy of big business and rotten government as long as we have this bullshit fiat currency.
WAKE UP AMERICA!! Turn off the American Idol and LEARN something for a change!!!!

Corporate America ... the great homogenizer ... your towns all look the same ... robbed of a sense of place. Soon your religion will be homogenized as well. Me I'd like to put it in a blender and puree the hell out of it. The death of our country will be at the hands of the religious right and left. Deluded lot.

"Hey hypocrites - take a look in the mirror before you cast those stones."

I don't own a SUV and would never buy the cheap waste-of-money crap sold at
WalMart. Also I have lots of savings and I'm just waiting for home prices to regress to their 10 year linear regressed value. No hypocrits here. Sorry. Sounds like the rant of someone that bought the Bush "ownership society" bill-o-goods. Happy foreclosure to you.

Ww, there's a lot of anger and bitterness out there. Didn't anybody laugh at the obvious connestions? The US soldiers as Star Wars Empire troops and Bush with Sultan as Luke and Obi Wan?

Seriously, what is that you want people to do that isn't going to be wasteful and sprawling and what does it do for society and your perception of a better future? What signals do you want sent that aren't already built into the current social, economic and governance models?

1) don't drive anymore
2) don't shopt at walmart
3) don't live in surburbia
4) reject the consumerism lifestyle
5) don't own a home
6) own lots of conocophillips stock (hey, I'm not stupid!)

"Hey hypocrites - take a look in the mirror before you cast those stones."

1) Sold the small SUV in 2000 (which I owned before they were cool) because I realized it was a waste

2) Have plenty of savings and could live off it a couple years

3) Grew up on a farm and have a small urban garden

4) Yes I do shop at WalMart sometimes....could live without them though

And this has to do with oil how? Are the cenurbs some magical place where the buses run on fairy farts and food is delivered by flying carpet after only being grown in sustainable ways and the only fertilizer is unicorn poop?

It seems to be a matter of faith that the suburbs are wasteful. Upon which facts not assertions are these assertions based?

I don't hate oil companies - I LOVE oil companies. I love capitalism

I'm just pointing out that the american people are suckers. They elected two oilmen to the white house, with deep, deep ties to the saudis. Then they went out and bought Hummers and homes 50 miles away from their office.

Then they complain about $3 a gallon gas, and oil company profits.

Right.. because the price of oil was a huge issue in those elections. Buncha suckers.

By and by, heartburn for the bankers

It is indeed the financial institutions that are most at risk in the real-estate market (which is not to say that consumers and speculators won't get hurt). The lenders will bear the brunt of the pain, because in many cases, they loaned the entire purchase prices of many homes. As I have said often, the housing bubble has been more a lending bubble. It will be the impairment of the financial institutions that will stop the flow of credit to the real-estate market. In turn, that will accelerate the collapse in house prices somewhere along the way.

The story closed with a description of how slow the market has recently become in Florida -- via the following comments in an e-mail by real-estate broker Mike Morgan: "We went three days this week with not a single showing. That's incredible. I have 35 listings. We usually get 2-6 showings a day. ... I received more desperate calls from sellers than ever. One lady broke down into tears. Her husband bought two investment properties, and they are now going to lose their 'life savings' if they sell the homes in today's market."

Ladies and gentlemen, unfortunately, a lot of people around the country are going to be badly hurt as this bubble unwinds. And, after they have taken their losses, the financial institutions that were the engine behind this folly will take their own hits. 'Easy Al' Greenspan at the Fed tried to bail out one bubble with another bubble. While it bought some time, it will end in far-worse pain.

keith,

you keep complaining that bush and cheney are friends with the saudis. do you think oil prices would be higher or lower if the saudis were our enemies like iran and venezuela?

if somebody has something that is very important to me, i would rather that they were my friend. now if you have any evidence that it is the friendship that is driving up oil prices and not speculators and politics, then go ahead and show us.

i'm no fan of bush, but i'm also not some raving left-wing lunatic that blames all of the world's problems on him either as if it was paradise lost.

You are right about the oil price. It is just galling that W is going around the ME belly-aching and spending US tax dollars to support democracy.

In the meanwhile, we are giving military guarantees to medieval monarchs who control their people with secret police organizations and public beheadings...exactly the kind of folks who Thomas Jefferson and George Washington detested to the bottom of their soul.

Isn't the amount of oil we get from the arabs about 7%? I think I saw that the largest amount of oil we import comes from Mexico.

Isn't that a kick in pants?

Dude..oil in fungible.

This means that the oil market is a global market and that a shortage at any point in the system increases the international price everywhere.

gas in france and the netherlands is $7/gal

gas is at record prices in all countries, including china and india. it's a big world-wide problems. there is a shortage of refineries and wells.

it's funny how the people who complain the loudest are also against drilling for more oil and building more refineries. nobody wants the refineries or oil rigs in their state or along their coastline.

ted kennedy and john kerry are opposed to wind turbines along the massachussetts coastline.

because we can't get any strong or honest leadership to solve this issue, we will just have to live with it.

Anonymous said...

Shortage of refineries my butt. Did this shortage of refineries occur suddenly enough to produce the sudden changes in oil prices we have seen? Simply NO. So take your spoon fed Rush Limpbone talking points elsewhere peebrain.

Mark said...

I *love* the subtlety of the lifted pink Hummer. Is it supposed to be Malibu Barbie's pimped-up ride?

Anonymous said...

Yeah there's no shortage of refineries. Rush Limbaugh is the reason gas prices are $7/gal in France. Nevermind that no new refineries have been built in the United States the past 20 years even though the population has increased by 70 million people. Nevermind that over two dozen refineries have been shut down since the 1990's. Nevermind that the refineries are switching from MBTE to ethanol additives. All of that doesn't matter. Rush Limbaugh is behind this whole evil plot to raise gas prices all around the world. I'm going to escape to Mars on my solar-powered bicycle soon

I think we should become enemies with the Saudis so that oil prices will go down. That makes all the sense in the world.

You all are spendin' too much time on this message board. Google oil and US supply. The bulk of our import comes from Canada and Mexico.

Why don't you all go blow up on them?

Christ! As smart as you all seem, you are missing the diversionary tactics of this government and their lap dog media.

Anonymous said...

No, don't come and blow us up in Canada. We really are nice people. We provide you with oil, gas, electricity, wood, paper, and we let all those 'planes land here when your corrupt government blew up the WTC and the Pentagon.

We don't hate Americans, we are just disgusted by your administrations.

Take back your Constitution, Senate, Congress. You are an elephant and we are a mouse. We are sleeping in the same bed as you (continent). When you twitch, we get frightened of being crushed.

Only 80% of products manufactured in Canada are sold to Americans. Why don't you try selling them to China instead? Worthless Canadian SOB's
