It takes a lot of energy to maintain a lie. That energy is in the form of the large amounts of money dumped into the Republican party by big oil and other special interests.

- but damn, they sure got a good return on their investment, didn't they?

I have posted this before. I'll do it again. I can't get this out of my head.
Someone please have the Fox News staff take a piss test ASAP ! They are stoners !

They were claiming a few days ago that skyrocketing crude and refined petroleum (petrol as they say in England , eh) or just gas prices wil not have a direct hit on our economy and markets.
I aways think back to a text book in school that showed the head of lettuce at around two bucks in the mid seventies gas crunch.
That's some reporting.
If Bill O'reily is reading this blog and sees my post , I'll probably have the men in black knocking at my door in 15 minutes , right?

I'm really tired of people like you, Keith – loud, lazy, stupid, uneducated degenerates, who are unable to add 2 and 2 without asking for help. Do you know, that the oil production is in decline worldwide? Norwegian, Alaskan oil fields reduced their production. The same is true for Kuwait. The production of the largest oil field in Mexico will drop about 10% this year. Did you hear about disrupting problems in Nigeria and Venezuela? Example: “Venezuela's state owned oil company PDVSA, which owns the CITGO refineries and retail outlets in the U.S., has inked a key deal with India, taking the first key step away from the U.S. as its major oil buyer.” You didn't know that GITGO belongs to Venezuela, didn't you? You didn't know that oil import dropped nearly 9% since January?
Do you know, that in 20+ years, thanks to clueless people like yourself, there were not a single refinery built in this country? And 20% of them are at the reduced production due to Katrina? Does your small brain understand the concept of supply and demand? It's not really complicated. Did you know a pace with which China produce cars for itself? What are they running on? Bananas in your ears? Did you know that our Gov't mandated (in 2005) the use of ethanol in gasoline? What do you think it costs to increase the production of ethanol (should be more than doubled) to match the production of gasoline? “Because gasoline containing ethanol tends to attract water, it can't be shipped by pipeline. That means that trucks and railroad cars that specialize exclusively in the transport of the fuel will be needed.” You think it will come for free and won't be reflected in the gasoline prices? “The switchover from MTBE to ethanol and other gasoline additives is the major reason for traders to be bidding up the price of gasoline in the futures markets, and is accelerating the rise in the price of gasoline at the pump.” Yeah, this is Exxon fault...
Do you know that American refineries are best adjusted for light sweet crude (which is in decline) not heavy or sour crude oil which requires extra refining steps? They can't easily switch from one type to another. What do you really know about this world? Did I mention the tax revenues the Gov't already receives from oil and energy companies? Since 1977 oil companies revenues, adjusted for inflation, equal to $643 billion, the Gov't collected more than twice(!) -$1.34 trillion by taxing those “evils”. There is an 35% profit tax, franchise fees, production tax, severance tax, etc.50%(!) of Alaska tax revenues comes from taxing oil? You are clueless about this, aren't you? Why don't you scream – reduce the taxation to reduce the gas prices? Do you know that the profit margin of our oil companies (I doubt that you understand this term, maybe others do) is below the average? Yeah, brainwashed fool, listen to Amy Goodman, she still thinks that money grow on trees and if we remove “evil corporations” the life will be better in an instance. You are not far from this level. Boy, you couldn't even stay focused on your main topic-RE bubble and continue to come with your shallow, stupid ideas based on your own primitive knowledge ant total disregard of facts. You know nothing, you understand nothing and - if you continue this way - you never will. But the world is not flat, Keith. Finish you High School and then we will talk...

anon -- Thanks for spelling out the real reasons for the price increases. No conspiracy theories need apply. The best part to hit these fools with is the obscene increase in tax revenues politicians are "raking in" as they decry those windfall profits for the evil oil companies -- LOL!

Oil prices are high due to higher demand from China/India and speculators bidding up oil prices on the back of political tensions.

If you people want lower oil prices then start drilling in Alaska and California. The same idiots crying about high energy prices are also stopping us from drilling for more oil in this country. So now we depend on the Middle East an South America.

"- but damn, they sure got a good return on their investment, didn't they?"

Any system require such large amounts of energy to maintain some desired state eventually costs more than it is worth. The Bush system will crumble around the weight of the lies that are so energetically costly.
Payback is a bitch and it's com'n in spades.

boy, that was a really weird flame post from that one anon - must not konw that I'M A FORMER CONOCOPHILLIPS MANAGER! One that could give him a lesson on anything he'd ever want to know about the oil business and how gas prices are set.

Geeze

"I'M A FORMER CONOCOPHILLIPS MANAGER!" - wow, and you didn't learn anything... Judging by your shallow views you were really incompetent one.

I bet he is smarter than Conoco/Philips manager.

Keith, Geeez, why don't you tell your side of the story and argue with facts not emotions? Maybe I'll agree with you?
