Isn't it sad that people have to 1) live in such dumps and 2) pay so much for the luxury of living in such dumps?
Why aren't they tearing down these Robert Brady designed hell-holes by now? That's the question

sorry! just fixed it. great blog - every time I visit I crack up, then I cringe, then I weep
I'm living it man...
Robert Brady? We've come a long way from Michael Brady's style of comfortable middle class California living: http://davidbrady.com/times/latbrady.html
The houseprice/income ratio no longer allows the average Mike Brady to hire a maid, that's for sure.
For the price of a California staple and wallboard wet dream, you could have a couple of Frank Lloyd Wright houses in some parts of the country. I'd prefer one of those except that they aren't known for being water tight.
Ah yes, the tomb house. For people who never want to look outside their windows
CREEPY!!!!
Marinpos.blogspot.com is an awesome site-the best for comic relief during this RE nightmare.
Slowing down in Florida as well. My guess is Miami Beach condos will be a blood bath.
You should see the crap selling for over 450K in Miami that was prices in the low 100k's a few years ago and practically free 7-10 years ago. They make the house in the picture look like a dream. Houses have converted garages done with no permit and small rundown shacks in the back that they are calling "in-laws quarters." Give me a break. I could go on and on with the horrors I have seen on the market here.
The Biscayne corridor is touted as the next big thing. In reality it is filled with pimps, streetwalkers and drug dealers. Check out the state list of sexual predators and you will see one on every corner in downtown Miami and the Biscayne area. I don't know anyone who actually lives in those areas. The locals I know laugh at the thought of living there. Seems the hype is something created by brokers, agents and developers. Poor out of towners or foreign investors will be screwed when this thing busts. That area will be the first to go.
The condos here are built in record time and I am sure we will see some seriously shoddy work reveal itself when the next big hurricane hits.
Amazing what is going on and the denial that still exists down here.
Our mayor recently failed to show at _Tropical Green_, a conference that discussed among other things cities that have created master plans and lessoned the stress on the environment while improving public transportation and overall quality of living. He DID however managed to show up a few days before for a party to promote a new highrise downtown.
What a mess!
Hello. Actually I think that house is nice. It looks practicable - low cost to build and run. It's the rejection of such views - got to have 8K square feet, acres of granite / marble / tile, 5 bedrooms 5 bathrooms (for 3 three people) cathedral ceilings ... that have led people to over extend themselves. But the short windows could be made larger.
