All that to save a buck and look good to Wall Street. Read the book "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman, because it's all in there.

Can you believe that executives from GE and IBM had to convince Indians to open their country to accept all the technology that was invented first by the American worker? It took years of frustrating negotiations for the Indian government to accept.

Without the American worker, India and China would be nothing. Now that they got everything easy and we are teaching them even how to study (major American Universities are setting up shop on those countries, as you know), they feel cocky, like they have accomplished anything on their own.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18675105.post-53547371883859895742007-06-28T23:44:00.000+01:002007-06-28T23:44:00.000+01:00"I too am an American tech worker and what you say..."I too am an American tech worker and what you say is untrue. You immigrants know what common sense and logic are, do you?

Until your countries remain a POS, you can't make fun or feel superior than Americans. While you guys were eating burritos, meditating to an elephant man, or getting your dirty poor arses kicked by dictator Mao, the Americans were busy inventing the internet, the personal computer, laser, software, Velcro, Blues, Jazz, Rock, DJ profession, personal trainer profession, LED, microwave, cable TV, satellite, putting a man on the moon, advanced medical devices to safe lives, management techniques, etc, etc, etc. Even the MBA was invented by Americans.

Meanwhile, the Chinese still eats with two sticks for god's sake, while the purple Indians have social casts, just like in medieval times. Without the US you guys are nothing, that's why you never invent anything major or revolutionary, like fiber optics or microchip. The rest of the world live only of copying what the US creates.

Sure, now that the Americans built all the basic infrastructure to create other inventions, the immigrants have become sassy, thinking that they are geniuses. Hey immigrants, create a software, Web 2.0 business, or any hardware without a microchip, personal computer, and Internet being invented first.

But what about Japan, you immigrant idiots may say. Well, I've got breaking news for you: who brought Japan out of the ashes and made that country a superpower was W Edwards Deming, an American. Search his name on Wikipedia, immigrant fools.

There, now you all go back to your little bowls or rice, tacos, praying to elephant man, and breeding like flies, while the busy Americans invent something else revolutionary for all of humanity to copy and make a living out of it. So prototypes of genius, shut up and enjoy the ride provided by your master, the American.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18675105.post-51281727347388664382007-06-28T21:12:00.000+01:002007-06-28T21:12:00.000+01:00"Nobody stole anything, you gave it away. On the first video the law firm teaches employers how to pretend that all American applicants are not qualified, in order to hire cheaper foreign labor. On the second video, the lawyer goes on CNBC to sell and brainwash the sheeple of how there's a shortage of American labor and how we need more H-B1 visas to bring in foreign workers.

Your job is not safe at all, especially if you earn over $100k. I know because it happened to my wife. After working 10 years for the same company, they replaced her with a foreign worker for half the price, and after she had built the entire department. How do you think that this country was built before all these H-B1 visas start to pop everywhere, with poor American skills? It's not like foreign skilled labor comes all that cheap, either.

The simple fact is that we do not produce enough engineers, scientists, programmers, systems analysts and architects, etc. and have to import them instead. At least with an H-1B they're here, paying taxes and contributing to the health of the economy. The alternative would be to outsource, and have the work done overseas. How is that better?

Also, a great many of the H-1B workers go on to become citizens, highly educated and highly paid citizens.

If you doubt me about the lack of US skilled workers, go to a college graduation sometime. The business majors are legion. When it comes time for the science and engineering schools to get up and get their degrees, it gets quite a bit thinner, and even then it is largely composed of Nguyen's and Patel's, who have immigrated here.

We're a nation of managers, with nothing to manage, and without deep skillsets.TMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16972726941993291842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18675105.post-80708852010921573012007-06-28T06:45:00.000+01:002007-06-28T06:45:00.000+01:00We have no immigration problem.
